Hi and thank you for taking the time to visit my site. Please sign my Guestbook before you leave, I'd love to know your comments.
I have been keeping and breeding Bantam Orpingtons for a while now. I fell in love with these wonderfulfully charasmatic birds, but, due to space I keep and breed just a few colour variations.
I'd like to take this opportunity to point something out. Most new comers to chickens and some already established chicken keepers are unaware that although these birds are bantams they are on the larger side averaging around 15 to 18 inches in height. Some of my birds are smaller than this but I wanted people to be aware that these birds are not pekin size.
I live in Swansea, South Wales and I am not a mass breeder of chickens, in fact my garden is tiny and I am soooooo jealous of those out there with acres of space. Breeding to a high standard is my hobby (obsession). My birds welfare is at the top of my list, second is seeing others enjoy them as much as I do. I breed to improve my birds and I sell surplus stock to pay for the upkeep of the birds that I keep.
The Orpingtons that I currently keep are (Photos are in the Photo Gallery section):-
Chocolate - I have a handsome Chocolate cockerel from Rob Boyd's line which I have crossed with 2 beautiful Black hens (Michelle Lewis's line, my own).
Gold Laced - Wow is all I can say when talking of these birds, I love them, it was these that first got me into orpingtons. My cockerel has been called 'The Daddy' by members of the public who have seen him, he is from Rob Boyd x (German x Danish) line, I have put him with 2 beautiful and wonderfully characterful hens, 1 from from Rob Boyd's line and the other from Michelle Lewis's line, my own.
Buff - Another fantastic group of birds, they are from Will Burdett's line.
The blacks and buff, I believe are the best layers.
I have some Reds, Blues, Cuckoo and Mottled colours coming through as well as some frizzles, I'm unsure whether space will allow me to keep these, but I hope I can squeeze them in somewhere. I am also debating whether or not to keep some pekins, let me know what would you recommend.
